Institution of Civil Engineers

Introduction
ice

Civil Engineering is the oldest of the Engineering profession. Today the profession offers opportunities for involvement in a wide variety of its sub-disciplines. The profession touches almost every aspect of our lives and give ample opportunity to make significant contribution for the betterment of the Society. Infrasteructural development has become synonymous with the progress of any country.

Dedicated to the purpose of maintaining and promoting the status of Civil Engineering as an ideal profession the Institution of Civil Engineers (India) came into being to imbibe the characteristics which are fundamental to the successful pursuit of an Engineering career. The Institution aims to train and educate budding Engineers of high caliber who are sound in theory and practice.

The Institution of Civil Engineers (India) Society which is registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 was created by the Indian Institute of Engineering Studies & Welfare Society, Ludhiana.

Recognition

The ICE (I) awards different Grades of Membership-Corporate & Non-Corporate Membership. For the later category of Membership ICE (I) conducts Examinations twice a year. The Government of India has given recognition to the Technician Membership Examination & Associate Membership Examination conducted by the ICE (I) at par with Diploma and Degree in Engineering respectively, The syllabi followed by the ICE (I) is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.

The professionals engaged in Civil Engineering activities and associated with organizations/ institutions/ industries involved in promoting the two professions have a great opportunity to fulfill their aspirations to improve their qualifications vis-a-vis their status in their respective profession/society. This would be a significant personal achievement and a benchmark to their professional standing.
